There’s more to your well-being than just working out and eating healthy meals. Taking a thorough idea of your health— nourishing your mind, body, and soul—is vital for your overall health. We like to describe this as self-care. Here are a few of our favorite ways to practice self-care.
Stay Connected
We may be following social distancing, but that doesn’t mean we can’t connect with others! Book a digital coffee break or happy hour with your friends or family. Keep it cheerful and tell each other one good thing that happened to you recently. Brainstorm plans for when you can meet again and how comforting it will be to give them a big, warm hug. Together we are better and can support each other. That’s what friends are made for!
Follow a Flexible Routine
Start with a plan for your day but let there be some flexibility. For one thing, wake up around the same time every morning and get ready for bed around the same time every night. Outline your intentions for the day and plan out your work assignments, but give yourself some time for your daily workout, a walk outside, or to read your favorite book. Don’t be too strict with your plan that you add unnecessary stress. Creating a balance between procedure and recreation will help you have a more constructive and rewarding day.
Practice Gratitude
Thankfulness is good for us. The more gratitude we offer to others during tough times, the better and tougher we become. Provide others grace. One of our most treasured ways to carry out gratitude is to contact a loved one and tell them how much you love them. A personal note is also a welcome and enjoyable surprise that is sure to make someone’s day.
Get Outside
There is nothing better than spending time out of the house, basking in the fresh air. Take a break and walk with your pup every day after lunch. Say hello to your neighbors (from a safe distance) and see how they’re holding up. Stand in the sunlight for 10 minutes and start taking slow breaths—you will feel so much better!
Find Joy
Just because we can’t go out together at our favorite places doesn’t mean we can’t appreciate a good meal! Create a new method for dinner and make your meals count. Turn on your favorite music, get the kids in on the process, and have some fun with it!
A Self-Care Staycation
Your mindset affects your entire life and determines your actions. And during these unusual times, it’s even more vital to take care of ourselves and our loved ones. Let’s take this time to create healthy routines and come out of this quarantine healthier and happier!
